ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Shorts on the Green is a short film festival based in Surfers Paradise in Queensland. The festival is a unique mixture of family fun; fine modern dining and latest shorts films from both local and national filmmakers. Now into its third year, Shorts on the Green has been growing in size and is fast becoming one of Queenland’s premiere short film festivals. From humble beginnings in 2007, the festival has been steadily growing each year, with crowd attendance growing and film entries increasing each year.

Shorts on the Green takes place at the Circle on Cavill entertainment precinct in Surfers Paradise. The venue is a large, circular outdoor amphitheatre at the base of two of Surfers Paradise’s tallest towers. Crowds are able to relax on the grass in front of Queensland’s largest outdoor screen, which is hanging between the two towers. Incidentally, the ‘Green’ in Shorts on the Green is derived from the circular grassy knoll. Crowds are spoilt for choice for food as a number of fine modern restaurants surround the complex.

Shorts on the Green is committed to bringing you the best short film works from upcoming filmmakers. We accept entries from all levels of filmmakers, professional and amateur alike. Entry is free to insure any filmmaker out there is able to send us their shorts. Live judging takes place on the night by a panel of industry figureheads. We have some great prizes awarded to winning films, which will be announced over the coming months.

Shorts on the Green forms part of the Surfers Paradise Festival, a month long celebration of culture in Surfers Paradise. WHERE ARE WE

Shorts on the Green is located at the Circle on Cavill Big Screen, on the corner of Cavill Avenue and Surfers Paradise Blvd, Surfers Paradise. Parking is avaiable at the Circle on Cavill Car Park and also at the adjacent Bruce Bishop Car Park.
