Shorts on the Green has finally come and gone for 2011. A huge thank-you must go out to all the people who came down to Circle on Cavill to make the night such a memorable evenning. This year has proven to be our most successful year yet, with crowd numbers well up on previous years. For the masses who braved the winter night, they were treated to a feast of quality short films and pulsating music from two brilliant local bands. Juzzie Smith warmed the Circle on Cavill Green up at the start of the night with his infectious and feel good mix of blues guitar, harmonica, keyboards and stomp-box action. Byron girl Andrea Soller kept the good vibes going throughout the breaks with beautiful sets featuring her five piece band. The main part of the night was designated to the short film program and we have to say it didn't dissapoint! The crowd response to the films was amazing with most of the festival goer's remarking on how impresive all the films were. The quality of films entered each year just keeps getting better and the bar for this year has been set very high indeed. There were some very tough decisions to be made by our judging panel made up of Steve Cooper, Josh Tanner, Susie Douglas and Maria Lewis. At the end of the night their could only be a few winners and they are as follows:
BEST FILM: Clean Up On Aisle Nine
RUNNER UP: Berry Bliss
BEST DIRECTION: Clean Up On Aisle Nine
BEST EDITING: A Picture of War
BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: A Picture of War
AUDIENCE CHOICE: A Picture of War
